Every time I wakes up I enjoy a long lazy stretch! It would be a lot nicer if Lil' Bit and Spanky Rose wasn't always on da' top of me!! But I's don't mind 'cause dey're my two bestest friends in da' world . We live here, wid a bunch of udder furkids, at a place called Heaven Scent Ferret Rescue and Shelter. We's don't know 'xactly what dat means 'cept that we's treated real good. We hear Mom Sandi on da' phone talkin' to folks telling dem dat she runs 501-3C no-kill shelter. I asked Lil' Bit and Spanky Rose what dat means but dey don't know either. But all of us her at da' shelter like da' part that says "no kill."

Mom's house ain't real big but we all have a nice clean place ta live. Ev'ry day Mom cleans all of da' cages . . . Spanky Rose has heard dem call Ferret Nation an Ferret Mansion cages . . . and we's all have nice clean hammies and blankets. And Mom does it all by herself. And she spends almost all of her money - whatever dat is - on us kids to make sure we's have everyting dat we need.

Oh!! I hears a car door shut, and now I hears da' front door opening!! Dat can only mean one ting . . . Mom's home from work!! Dat' means it's time ta get out and play!! But bestest of all Mom fixes us sometin' she calls duck soup. Lil' Bit has looked and dey ain't no ducks around here so we ain't sure where da' duck part comes from. But, like Spanky Rose says, who cares!! It's always nice and warm and so creamy an' it makes our tummies feel so good!! And Spanky Rose may looks like a lil' lady but she sure can turn in to Miss Piggy when the soup hits da' bowl!! And da' rest of us ain't much better!! All of you sleepy heads better wakes up or da three of us will eat all of da soup!!

Dere's so many of us dat we can't all get out at once. So some of da' kids gets out all day and some gets out all night. Da' tree of us likes to be out at night. It's fun to wait 'til Mom goes to sleep and den get on da' bed and jump all over her. Lil' Bit likes ta wait 'til Mom's sleepin' real good and den scoot under da' covers and play wit her feets!! But Mom don't mind 'cause she loves us all so much. An sometimes a bunches of us just run around and maybe do some wrastlin' and lets Mom sleep.

Some of da' kids are old, sick or just don't like udder furkids. So dat's why we can't all get out at once. And since we all don't get along Mom has fixed dif'rent places for us to play. De're all nice and clean and we's got toys and clean blankies so if'n anybody wants to take a nap. And we can play and chase each udder all over da' place and play in da' tubes and rastle an do 'bout whatever we wants!! And we's out for HOURS!! And, even tho' it ain't 'portant to me 'cause I like to keep my slim, trim body, dere's always lots of clean water and food for us kids. Sometimes we just drinks da' water but sometimes we plays in it!!

All of us kids are 'tankful to be here at the shelter and we know just how much we are loved. Some of da' kids came from good, lovin' homes but for some reason or the udder der ferrants couldn't keep dem. Sometimes it was 'cause der ferrants got sick and weren't able ta care for dem so they got in touch with Mom and, most of the ferrants in tears, dey sent their beloved babies to Heaven Scent where dey knew that dere kids would be loved and well cared for. Some are here 'cause dere ferrants is moving an can't take dem along. And some of de ferrants are in the military and had ta leave ta go and help protect our country.

But den some of us wasn't so lucky. We was treated real bad and are so glad dat we somehow got to da shelter where Mom takes care of us. Some of de kids was even throwed out of der houses to take care of demselves!! And some of us had so much good lovin' when we was first taken home and now dey ain't got da time to play wit us and dey never pays any attention to us and totally ignore us 'cept for making sure we have food and water. Forget about da cages or our potties getting'cleaned, or even getting clean blankets and hammies. Some of da kids is here 'cause dey are sick or old has been treated really bad . But Mom is always here ta take every one in an love an take care of all of us no matter how hurts or sick dey is. Even if Mom is sick or really pooped out she still takes care of all of us by herself every day!!

Lil' Man and I have both seen our share of sick, injured and abused ferrets that have come here and, no matter what shape they are in, Mom always has a place for dem at da shelter. Like our friend Spanky Rose. Somebody wasn't watchin' her and she felled of a high place and hurted her back. She can't move her back legs too much but she still chases us around and plays wid us. But a nice person who heared about her had some special wheelie tings made for her and now she can really move easier. Mom takes care of all of us no matter what's wrong wit us an gives us all so much love. Some of da kids have to go to da doctor to get medicine and ta make sure dey aren't in any pain and ta make dem feel better. But some of da kids dat come here are so sick or has been treated so bad dat no matter what Mom an da doctor do dey have to be helped ta cross to the Rainbow Bridge. But from de stories dat Mom's told us it's a wonderful place and dat no ferret is ever hurt, sick or old and dere bodies are made well agin!! She says dey get all of dere fur back and dey gets young, healty and strong again. An every ferret dat goes dere gets a special pair of wings and a halo. None of us know 'xactly what dat is but it sounds really neat!! Spanky Rose, Lil' Bit and me have seen Mom drops lots of tears when one of da kids has to leave her. And Spanky Rose has even heard Mom tell da ones dat are getting ready to go dat dey can even have stuff ta eat dat dey couldn't have when dey was on da Earth!! Lil' Bit wants some M&M's and I want lots of raisins. Coke is what would be on da menu for Lil' Miss Fancy Pants!! Me an all of de udders know dat one day it will be our time to go to dat wunneful place an dat when we leave dat Mom will be holding us in her arms tellin' us how much we's loved and dat we'll be wrapped in a soft warm blanket and dat her tears will fall on our small bodies as we leave her. But we all know that Mom will do whatever she tinks best for each one of us. And she also tells us dat one day she'll come wit us an den we'll all be together again forever! But while we're wit her we gets all of da love, attention and good food that we can eat!

Every once in a while a ferrant has ta go away for just a little while and Mom will let dem stay wit us so dat dey don't have ta stay in a little cage at da doctors office. They get the same love, attention and care as all of us dat live here get. But Lil' Bit and I can always tell dat Mom is a little sad when dey have to go back home with dere ferrants. But she can always tell by the way dey hug and kiss dere babies when dey see dem again!!

Some of da kids leave here an go to Forever Homes. But Mama won't let any of us go anywhere before she knows dat da new ferrants know what has ta be done ta take care of us like she does. And she won't let us go anywhere dat has little kids 'cause she don't want us ta get stepped on our hurt by dem. She also don't want us to bite anyone!! If anyone was to hurt one of us we might bite dem just to stop the hurt. We don't mean to it's just da only way we have to let dem know 'cause we don't bark or meow or anyting like that. Sometimes dat's the only way we can let someone know dat we are hurtin' 'cause of someting that dey are doing to us. Mom makes sure dat the hooma dat wants to adopt one of us knows just wat dey are doing and dat dey really know how to care for us. And Mom makes dem sign a paper tellin' dem dat if dey even need to send us away dat the kid has to come back to live with us at da shelter!! An she's really strict about dat!

Anyways, Spanky Rose, Lil' Bit and me just wants all of you hoomans to know just how good it is here at Heaven Scent. We all know dat we are loved and taken good care of. So if dere is any furkid dat needs a place to stay den tell 'em dat dis is da place to be!!

Well, we's gots to go now 'cause I heared Mom say dat treats are on de way!! And we all LOVE treats, even tho' we's all got to watch our waistline better dan fat old Lil' Bit does. An none of still ain't figured out how Spanky Rose stays so slim and trim but even if'n she got fat we'd still love her 'cause she's so purty!! So let me go now so's dat I don't miss anyting ta eat!!
